Food pantries lead April calls for help

Assistance with food, rent or mortgage payments and electric bills topped the list of Midland County calls for help to 211 in April.

The clearing-house phone number for social services received 72 calls for food pantry information; 51 for assistance with housing costs, and 42 for help with electric bills, according to a report to the Continuum of Care.

A total of 456 calls were received from Midland County residents. A full table and comparisons to April 2009 can be downloaded at top requested services.
